Thick Fix

June 23, 2008

Journal, Lauren

Walking home the other day, I noticed that this tree has an unusual spot.  I wonder how long ago they poured concrete here?  Was it to fix a broken branch spot?  Or kill a colony of carpenter ants (putting thousands of concrete boots on them)?  Or is this a rare concrete tree? Hmmm…..

That ain’t right.

I know who owns the property that tree lives on…I’ll have to ask them and get back to you…

Perhaps the tree ate a passerby, and while doing so, also swallowed some sidewalk.

It’s like an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies:

Jethro: Hey Uncle Jed, I gone and done found me a cement tree! I brought it back and put it next to the cement pound out back. I done figured that Elle May’s critters can climb it or something.

Uncle Jed: Good thinking, boy. Now get back in the kitchen and finish your vitals so you can do some of that book studying and become a brain surgeon.
