Shopping! Glorious shopping!

Cooking, Gadget, Journal

Today was an amazing day. I’ve been staying at work rather late this year, so by the time I go home the downtown stores are closed. I’ve had a hankering for quite some time to visit Et Cetera, our local thrift store. (The lack of an oven has put a crimp in our dinner-making, so I wanted to find some alternate food-heating appliance.). Sadly, Et Cetera is always closed when I leave work.

Today, though, Lloyd called to say he’d be staying late at Lincoln Lutheran. I got the call at 4:15, and on the spot decided that since I had to walk home anyway, I was going to start walking at 4:30. Did you hear that?? Four-thirty!! A full half-hour before Et Cetera closes!

Of course I didn’t make it out the door until 4:35, so I was literally half-running the six blocks to downtown. (Shopping! Shopping! Shopping!) Along the way I checked my wallet, and DANG! I had no cash! That meant a precious 3 minute detour to the bank. (Seward is really, really small.) I ran across the street, got some money, dashed back across the street and got inside the doors at 4:46. Guess who was inside?? Beth!

Beth, I am really, really sorry that you had to witness my pathetic, sweaty delirium. Seriously, Beth was calm and normal and I was dripping buckets and hyperventilating . It was glorious, though! We had 14 whole minutes to walk around and see STUFF. Plus, I scored my Snack Master, or whatever it’s called!

Welcome to my kitchen, friends.

After we paid for our purchases, she offered to drive me home, but I declined because now I was going to Dollar General!! “The stores are open! The stores are open!” I shouted as I ran onto the sidewalk! Well, I didn’t really shout it, but I sure wanted to.

I bought those cookies, and I ate six of them with gusto on the way home – with my coat open, trying to cool down.

Yes, I am pathetic. I also do not care.

If your snack master is like the one the boys had, you can make lots of good sandwiches. Congrats on your buy!

Hehe, I totally get that coat open business. I always walk too fast and end up partially stripping off when it’s freezing cold out.

What about a quarter for scale? I can’t tell if the peanut butter fudge stick cookie things are big enough to be worth getting up and going to the kitchen.

I can’t wait to see what you make with your new contraption!

I have one of those & I can tell you … pizza pockets come out darn good in that little machine !

You’ll need bread, pizza sauce, mozz. cheese & any toppings you like. Mouth watering now….

There really and truly isn’t anything better than wandering around, looking at STUFF. It is one of my favorite pastimes.

We really like our sandwich maker. It turns a blah sandwich into messy-yumminess.

when I saw the pic of the snackmaster next to the cookies, i was CERTAIN if I scrolled down I’d see some sort of snackmastered cookie creation ala Lauren.
