I found crafting in SWGemu (pre-cu, pre-NGE emulator) to be thrilling. I left my CEO and alliance leader job in EVE Online to pursue being an armorsmith, something I never regretted. After a year of making superb, unique, and rare armor for those generals and noobs I found to be obsequious enough to please my fragile ego, I can say it was one of the most pleasurable experiences I've had in an mmo in the last ten years. Every item crafted by hand and unique. The amazing and yet horrifying thing is, it was even much better than that on Live. (and will be again on the emu eventually) It can almost bring tears to my eyes when I think about the atrocities that were perpetrated on the SWG community when the Combat Upgrade and later NGE were released.
